It's official: Printers say "no" to printing Filament with erections
This is their reason:
"Further to [...] the submission of some advance images, I can now herein formally confirm that we would NOT want to print material of this nature, which although likely to perhaps only cause offence to a small number of actual staff, may unfortunately create much bigger and more serious far reaching problems for us with other clients - particularly those in the womens/religious sectors, who could potentially withdraw their own work in protest as a result."
It tickled me merrily that they are concerned about offending the women's sector!
Is this a problem? Can't we just get another printer?
Well, possibly not. This printer is about 30% cheaper than any other quote I've had, and print is our major cost, so using someone else would be seriously difficult.
Something to contemplate, anyway.

(does the printer have to be UK based?)
There are conceivably plenty of printers who would do erections. The issue is that this one is 30% cheaper than every other printer I've spoken to, and the entire cost/profit/loss strategy of Filament is based on the reasonable print price they were able to offer.

Currently, yes.
But in future when our print volumes are a bit higher and I've got a clearer idea of where they're all going, I'm going to look into getting them printed in small runs in our major markets (I would suspect New Zealand and the US) and posted out from there, as it may be cheaper!
Do they publish Nun's Weekly or something?
I do find it particularly odd that they think erections might offend "the women's sector"... the homophobic men's sector more like.
*sighs* I suppose we can live without erections. *grumple*
